My Past Is Too Painful & It’s Holding Me Back

The trauma that you’ve experienced was extremely painful, something you’ll never forget but don’t keep allowing that to stop you from living the life that God has for you.

@deontetowner

What is stopping you? Have you ever had a conversation with God complaining about your situation or where you are in life? Maybe you’ve prayed and said, “If it wasn’t for THIS I would be much further in my life! If only, I didn’t have to deal with this struggle I would be closer to you Jesus! I wish I was raised in a different family, so I wouldn’t have to deal with the same ol drama day after day! I wish I had more money then I wouldn’t be stuck in this city!” Maybe all of those statements are true. Maybe if we were in a different situation then we would be much further than we are now.

I realized that sitting around and complaining all day won’t make it better. It only prohibits the power of God working in our life. If we want God to move on our behalf we must allow him to come into our hearts and guide us on what to do and how to handle every situation. The bible states that God is a provider and he will give us the tools in order to navigate life no matter what situation we find ourselves in. At the end of the day we must take personal accountability of the excuses we make for not being where we want to be. The trauma that you’ve experienced was indeed extremely painful, something you’ll never forget but don’t keep allowing that to stop you from living the life that God has for you.

Did you know that if you keep allowing your past to take over your future you are actually stopping all of your future blessings that God has for you? God will give you the tools on how to move on from the past, or move through it everyday. You may never forget how hurt you were but God will help you use your experiences as a way to build up his kingdom.

It is time for you to live your best life in Jesus Christ. After you read this post jot down all your goals that you have in life, and promise yourself that whenever you find yourself complaining, pointing the finger or even blaming God.. STOP! and begin to praise praise him. Changing your perspective on your situation will allow God to intervene and strengthen those area that are hard to let go. Thank him for the good, bad and ugly. Thank him for still giving you purpose and substance in life. Don’t allow the pass to stop you.

Psalm 37 5-7

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Amen!
