Depression Keeps Coming Back, but I refuse to let it WIN.

There are things that we all struggle with behind closed doors that even our friends and partners aren’t aware of. Some people are good at hiding how they are really feeling because growing up they were taught to hide their pain, smile and to deal with all their problems alone even if it’s killing you on the inside. Years have gone by and some people are still hiding their pain and taking the past into adulthood with them. They have perfected the craft of making it seem like everything is fine. Some people keep themselves busy because they know if they think too deeply about things then they will fall back into depression all over again. Should we continue to operate this way? No…!! God want’s us to live a fulfilling life but we must confess to the Lord what is on the inside to fulfill every promise that he has for us. He already knows what we are dealing with but he is waiting for us to come to him.

As we get closer to God we learn that we cannot do it on our own. We are fighting a spiritual battle and depression will try to overtake our minds if we do not fight it through reading our word, fasting and prayer. When we give it all to God he will cast down every though that causes our mind to go back into depression.

Sometimes the enemy tell us:

Things are never going to get better.

Your life is always going to be this way.

You will never come out of sin and addiction.

You will never find a soulmate. You will be single for the rest of your life. Nobody wants you.

Nobody wants to be your friend!

We must rebuke those thoughts. Anytime a negative thought comes into our mind we must pray and stand on the promises of God. Remind yourself today that depression will not win. You have won the victory. The enemy knows that God has nothing but great success for you and he is trying to use every negative thought to stop your blessings.. but he is DEFEATED! In Jesus name.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

  1. For a large part of my life, I battled depression. My heart goes out to you. It is not a battle folks can understand if they have not been through it themselves. I have no pat answers for you, but I will share what I found helped me in case something in my story may somehow help you.

I definitely see a spiritual component to it, as well as a psychological one. Believing the lies our adversary told me (whether directly into my thoughts or through other people) had a huge role to play. I had to learn to discern truth from lie.

Another thing that helped was taking SamE by Jarrow. (That brand, specifically, because it was used in the double blind studies and their certified quality control). It is something that can be taken when needed, as needed, in the amounts needed. You cannot overdose on it. It was recommended by an herbalist a long time ago. I had been taking an antidepressant, but wanted to get off of it. This was a good replacement for me. I love that it does not have to be taken all the time, but only when actually needed.

Even now, when I feel a bit of depression creeping up, I will take it. But it is very rare I need it anymore. Doing the inner healing work has really helped, which includes breaking the “programming” of my earlier part of life. So many lies needed to be replaced with truth.
